Hey Andy ole buddy ole pal...

yep... caught him in London at the Underground, our Razorjack was along for the gig as well... and Warrel fucking killed! seriously, he was bad ass... he's seriously on fire live right now and the vocals sounded amazing that night, and i have the video tape to prove it (but don't ask for copies, i won't send them, sorry!) not saying you might not catch him on a bad night, this happens.. .singers get exhausted, get the flu, cold, etc, etc, just like other people.

yeah.. the thread went off topic... just like a real face-to-face conversation often does.... C'est la vie.

once apon a time their was no such thing as vocal pitch correction or auto punching, this ended in the late 80's. now musicians have become increasingly lazy. especialy vocalist. fortunately most metal musicians are very good at what they do thanks to long hours practicing. my point is that it would be far more entertaining to hear the before and after material from bands like hoobastank,incubus,staind...........the bands w/the $200,000+ productions. although hearing a before and after of the drum and guitar productions from andy would be sweet.

Unfortunately I suffer from this rare 'Warrell Dane not my cup o tea disease'.

The dude is seriously talented and awesome in his own right, but there are certain aspects of his vocal performances that I personally do not like. More power to him though and I hear he is an excellent cook... and that's a big smile in my book. :)

Haven't you heard the clip of Enrique Iglesias live? He was lipsyncing but the live tech recorded the mic anyways, he's so far off tune, barely changing notes, it makes for hours and hours of fun :)
Especially the tarzan yell!

You must admit that Warrel's vocal lines and harmonizations are somewhat uncommon. His style is very unique and quite haunting. But still, i managed to get my girlfriend to apreciate him, and she HATES metal (yeah, I know...).

This is very similar to what my bass player did to his girlfriend, with the exception that she's a metalhead as well... :D
Little by little she really learned to appreciated once hard-to-swallow Nevermore and is really looking forward to that Ljubljana gig.

I didn't get it at first, either. Now, TGE is my favorite record and Nevermore is my current favorite band. My 5-year old son LOVES when I sing along to "Final Product". He always chimes in on the part when WD goes "Their god will starve you!". It's really funny.

...and staying off topic...
Politics was my first Nevermore record and I didn't like the vocals on it either. DNB was the album that really struck a chord. Almost exactly the same happened with Mustaine's voice, RIP and CTE.

Warrel's voice is so damn versatile that once you get into them it's impossible to get sick off. And as someone said earlier it really seems to be an acquired taste. "THE SKY HAS OPEEEEND!"

Well, to bring up another point, is System of a Down... Serj's vocals are fucked, but oddly enough, somehow work for what he's doing... I can get into some things, but not into others... for what its worth, that big fucker who "sings" in Coheed and Cambria is the worst I've ever heard in my fucking life.

Serj's voice is fantastically (is that a word?) unique and defintely one of the bright spots for the band. It's just too bad that the guitarist is singing so many leads on the last album. He just kills too many songs with his voice, he needs to stick to playing guitar.

Coheed kick ass. Their last CD was just great, great, great. Completely not metal by any stretch, more of a modern/pop Rush but they are freaking great.

I used to like System of a Down, their old stuff, have not even listened to anything from them past that. Same goes for the band Incubus. Their album S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is freaking great, but then they got all radio friendly and quite gay.

Yep. But I don't know what to say apart from, hell yeah.. I'd listen to an A/B example like you suggested, with great interest.

I hope it's possible and that Andy can be bothered and has the time someday.
