Hey Dan, Have you ever been in touch with Devin Townsend?

You're right, that would probably make the best duo in all of music. That's something I dream about, but food, I was hearing word that Dan already said that he wouldn't work with Devin, but I don't know the official word. Hopefully he'll reply

I don't like Devin's stuff, I've tried to listen to many things and never got into any of it. If anything, Dan would make it great, Devin would just be there. ;)

Devin commented my vocals on the Winds record with "Genius!"
That´s about all the communication we´ve had!!! But it´s a good start...

Cool, Dan what do you think of Dev's solo stuff?

I don't think Devin's against collaborating; he's just against doing someone else's material. For instance, with his vocals on Ayreon, he initially said no. But then Arjen said he can write his own lyrics and sing it however he wanted. So then he said yes. And we all know how badass that turned out! Well, except for Tumn. Haha.

He's also done four projects with Jason Newsted and a few others in the past—IR8, The Mighty Young Impalers, Blastula & The Satanitones, and Tree Of The Sun. So I don't think he'd be against working with Dan at all. His solo stuff is priority, of course, but if the time presented itself, I could see it happening.

Right now he's working on an epic symphonic metal album. Not sure how this will turn out, as his musings online always seem to evolve beyond his initial ideas, but it sounds like it would be killer.

Devin is also a great producer. He produced Soilwork's Natural Born Chaos CD.

Dan once told me he had heard some Strapping Young Lad (unless it was Devin's solo album Physicist since it's like SYL light).

If Dan and Devin were to do something together, I think it would be amazing, since they're probably my favourite vocalists and musicians in the genre. With Devin's infinitely layered production work and Dan's godly vocals, the album would kill on the spot.

Terria is one of the greatest albums I've ever heard. Tumn, I just can't see how you weren't moved by it. Listen to it on a good set of headphones and tell me it doesn't ooze brilliance through and through. Devin's work does take getting used to, but it's definitely worth the effort.

Anyway, I also look forward to hearing Dan on the new Frameshift album. Both the Labrie and Bach discs were great, but the new one with Dan will own them. I still wish he was the only singer on the project, but with a double album in store, we'll hopefully have enough tunes with Dan singing.

Dan's vocals are at his very best these days. His singing on White Darkness is at its absolute best.

Go Dan! :kickass:

Devin Townsend is one hell of a songwriter/vocalist/guitarist/producer. I think he and Dan could create some really cool stuff. Neither Dan nor Devin are co-op guys, but thats why this co-op iwould be going to be the shiatz.

Do you mean shitty, or or the good kind of shitty. I agree with you about that what they could do together would be great, because it woul, 2 geniouises that could do basically anything they wanted, musically. It could be perfect, but I don't think it would work because they both quit bands to go solo. I don't know though, in the future, I am hoping, because it will be spectacular.
