Hey guys im new here and i need some advices on playing metal

Id like to site down some problems or confusions on me as a guitar player.

1.) How do i play a power chord?
2.) Does drop D tuning means tuning the 6th string to drop d and leave other strings.
3.) Is it wrong to look for tabs?
4.) How to listen on tunes and play not relying on tabs

Please bare with me!

1) If you use drop D, you can do one with one finger

get Guitar for Dummies or something. If you can't play a power chord yet then you aren't ready to start playing "Metal;" you gotta at least learn basic power chords, pentatonic scales, left and right hand muting, and alternate picking before trying to play metal. Also, you'll need a high gain amp and a decent guitar. A Squire doesn't make the cut. What do you play now?
