kudos to Safe Homey.

All the 80's recommendations that you were given were top flight. I would add Fates Warning's No Exit (1988) but other than, the list is good.

Now. For 90's speed/thrash that you may want to check out:

Iced Earth - Night of the Stormrider (1992)

- try to get the remastered one. It sounds worlds better than the old shitbox recordings

Iced Earth - Burnt Offerings (1995)

- also has a remastered version. With the better vocalist of the two. Greely does a formiddable job on Stormrider , kinda reminds me of Anthrax's first vox from Fistful of Metal Mr. Neil Turbin.

These are easily two of the best metal albums of the 90's.

Or, if you want something completely out in left field, try

Skyclad - A Burnt Offering For the Bone Idol (1992)

- the ultimate medieval folk-thrash album ever recorded. Tough to find, though.

Hey thraxhead!

Iced Earth are one of the best metal bands ever!
Night of the Stormrider is a gem! I bought the Dark Genesis 5 cd boxed set - and even though I prefer Days of Purgatory versions with Barlow on vocals - the original version of "Night..." still thrashes hard.

I'm actually playing rhythm guitar in an Iced Earth tribute band - my knuckles are falling off... :)

i really like the few iced earth songs i've heard, and fates warning does tear some shit up. Apparently the singer from Weezer took lessons from one of the Fates Warning guys back in the day.
