Hi everybody,
I think I should introduce myself. Here´s what I sent to Greg when I asked him if there´s a possibility to contribute to Librarius:
About me: I´m 36, born and live in Germany. I´m into metal since 1979 when I got into AC/DC, Judas Priest, Saxon, Maiden and more of the obvious NWOBHM stuff at this point in time. I saw AC/DC with Bon in late 79 and was ultimately hooked. Later on I got into Venom (friend of mine did Venom´s Legions Deutschland) and with "No Life til Leather" and other tapes and records into Metallica, Exodus, Slayer, Possessed and the whole Bay Area thing. Some friends of mine played in Exumer and I was helping them with their equipment when they did gigs with bands like Tankard, Deathrow, Angel Dust Blind Guardian etc. We also did a small tour with Suicidal Tendencies in 87. Then came the second Death Metal and Black Metal wave etc. etc. and here we are
Since a couple of years I´m writing gig and record reviews for www.chroniclesofchaos.com. There´s also a short bio and a rather crappy, wimpish picture of myself at our site. I don´t write that much compared to some of our other contributors as I´m not served by any labels (and I´m not really into that) but I´ve had something in most issues since #34. It´s mainly a hobby and I only review what I buy or sometimes borrow from a friend who´s got even more records than I have. If you want to have a look at my writing there are reviews of Blood Red Throne, Deicide, Destruction, Carpathian Forest, Gravewuerm and Nephasth in the latest issue #57. There´s also my top 20 for 2001 at the end of this issue.
These days I mostly listen to Death and Black Metal but I wouldn´t go so far as to say I only like one or two genres. Well, I don´t like German Power Metal and Nu Metal but something I enjoy could come from any genre. I also dig some non-metal stuff, Beatles, Stones, old Queen, Bjork, Depeche Mode, some electronic music etc. etc. etc.
Cheers
Matthias
