Holy shit - Ola Frenning leaves Soilwork!!

Yeah, Soilwork is under Throwdown on their upcoming tour. A huge disappointment for me... They always seem to be under a bunch of big acts, that's lame...

But they decided to come to Iowa here as an off-date from the Throwdown tour (devildriver did it a few months ago) so i get to see them do a headlining set! But it sucks Ola left... :_(

But Throwdown? Seriously? I could see them being under a different more popular band, but for a band that isn't as well known and influential to close the show is ridiculous.

Gonna have to go ahead and completely WTF that last one. Decadence...as in they have given up on traditional moral standards? If you mean decline, then I'm just going to disagree completely, but I'd like to know what you think that word means...

Jeff

At least for me the band is getting to an end, or is getting stuck, i understand that touring could be difficult and that fact is big enough to call it quits, another thing is that the label put a lot of pressure on the band.

I friend of mine hanged with them once, and they told him that nuclear blast told them to change their music so they can sell more records in the Us, the same with inflames, that´s why Jesper made Dimension Zero and Soilwork Terror 2000, so is a lot of pressure, and as artist i think it suck.

I always thought that Soilwork has a unique sound, especially on guitars, and my conclusion is that the unique sound comming out of them is the playing style.

I am a big fan of Soilwork, but lost some interest since Figure number five. everything down from there is pure gold.
That´s my opinion as a Fan

In that context it implies more pretension and snootiness and less musical content; their direction may be changing but they haven't turned into snobs or technical wankers...

Jeff

Maybe new blood will give some new life and fresh perspectives to the music. Isnt it more the exception to NOT change? hell, in my new band i'm like the 13th or 14th guitarist in 10yrs of existence. Bands change and evolve.

yeah Frenning is up there a bit, but he always had presence and energy, and you could never tell.

Frenning IS Wichers' uncle, as well.

And Im the one who posted the pics

Wait, aren't Soilwork playing under Throwdown on the upcoming tour? If I can remember on the promotion poster, it has Throwdown first.

One of my best friend's band is playing that Soilwork tour. Funny cause that's what we had been calling it (The Soilwork Tour) since they got on it even though Throwdown is headlining it. It's sad but thats what we get in America, all my favorite bands playing 25 minute sets in shitty venues opening up for crappy hardcore bands.

What? Throwdown is headlining? :Puke:

No wonder Ola bailed out. I am 100% in agreement with you and I mistakenly thought Soilwork would at least be headlining this one. LOL...

At least Opeth gets some recognition and some great gigs in the US. All my friends fucking love Soilwork and own every CD. I swear their label must be fucking things up for them. As expensive as it is to tour over here, maybe they feel safer opening for bands with bigger draws, but Throwdown? I don't know anyone who listens to them... I'd love to see some SoundScan numbers.

Wasn't there a thread here a little while ago with lots of people creaming themselves over how good the new Throwdown was?

if this were jeopardy, the answer would be Throwdown, and the question would be: "who wants to be Pantera, really, really, really really, really bad".

saw them open for In Flames, that would have been the greatest metal show i'd ever seen, if not for Throwdown. Evergrey, Nevermore, Throwdown, and Inflames, which band doesn't belong? I swear their singer practices his rants to Pantera bootlegs.
