Homemade Drum Triggers

Anyone made any? Did they work alright or not worth the effort?

The ones I made were incredible effective as long as you mounted them from the inside (which was a HUGE pain). I also made an electronic drum kit from spare drum kit that I had using window screen mesh and homemade triggers, works just as well as any 5,000 kit

I've been looking into this a lot lately as well. One BIG question I have, will DIY triggers be as sensitive as say Rolands? I can see to some extent the jump in price for a roland from a simmons, but talking strictly sensitivity is it the module that makes it or the pad itself? The website edrum.info is great. Take acoustic shells and make the electric with home made triggers and window screen mesh heads. Super cheap, look cool, feel real, and work great (although no personal experience).
