Hostility

I do notice there are a lot of hostile and evil things going on in this world - even in the world of Metal so that might be why it seems a bit hostile. I think it´s not between members though, I don´t see it anyway. It´s more that so much bad stuff has happened lately.

I have been quite cranky myself
Me too. My crankiness is mainly due to the entire Winter season though. I really hate the cold and ice but then staying inside all the time makes me go crazy too because I need to get out of this place sometimes. :Spin:

I wish I had enough money to buy an appartment or house somewhere in the South where it is warm all winter.

Tis the season.

I have found it very difficult to "get into the spirit" this year. Work has sucked for two months now the snow and ice make it harder. The mad scrambling to buy the proper gifts while staying within some sort of budget add to the chaos. I'll spend the whole weekend on a very long trek that, while nice to see the family, will ultimately leave me more exhausted than work has been.

Couple all of this with the bad news going on in the world and, whether you like it or not, you start to get a little edgy.

Normally I'm done shopping by the second week of December but this year, I neglected most of it until this week, which forced me into the stores with droves of smelly bargain-seekers who, like locusts, destroy everything in their path. They pretend not to see you when they step in front of you at the checkout line and would gladly knock you over into a rack of plus-sized panties in order to beat you to the last copy of GTA: San Andreas. In a time when the message is supposed to be about giving, it is in the stores where people become the most selfish.

The clearance aisle of a Wal-Mart is one of the most dangerous places on earth and to even tread too close could cost you the clothes on your back as the last day draws nigh and panic reaches a fever-pitch.

A large woman who had somehow become pinned beneath a sudden swell of shoppers went for my boot laces as I walked by, so eager for a bargain was she. I got away and observed from a distance as she squirmed out from underneath the pile and instead of shaking it off and moving to a different department, dove right back into the thick of it. Moments later, with a roar of glee, she emerged with a candle nestled inside a bed of holly leaves. There appeared to be fingernail marks down the length of the candle and a chunk of the holly had ben torn loose. Crying could be heard within the pile.

Tis the season. Next year I start earlier.

umm, Psychonaut? Are you a writer by profession or at least by hobby? If not, you should be!

That was an awesome post! Not only was it profound (I'm not even a Christian and I'm offended by what this holiday has become) and amusing, but it was delivered with crisp visuals that we can all relate to...providing we've ever gone into a Wal-Mart the week before Christmas.

I particularly liked "smelly bargain-seekers who, like locusts, destroy everything in their path" and "A large woman who had somehow become pinned beneath a sudden swell of shoppers went for my boot laces as I walked by, so eager for a bargain was she."

Here, Here! :kickass:

You are right Trans-Siberian Outcast. that was a great post by Psychonaut. He sure knows how to write.

You not so bad yourself though. I have been reading your post and you have become a real asset to this community. Most of your posts are thoughtful and well written.

I guess it takes one to know one. And yes, thats an implicit compliment to myself as well ;)

Happy holidays everyone.

IMO Christmas is what you make of it ... for me it has absolutely positivly Nothing to do with God, Jesus or anything else of that nature it is about spending quality time with loved ones and taking a load off for a day .... I never stepped into walmart this year :) everything I needed was at the Music Store

Agreed, JonnyD, but I tend to live my whole life that way anyway. I don't need a holiday as an excuse to spend valuable times with my loved ones. I do that every chance I get, no matter what day of the year it is. Really, what I hate most about Christmas is all the greedy bargain shoppers that are out, clogging the roads, the stores and the post office (I haven't got my mail for two weeks now because I won't get anywhere near that zoo). They make is a major hassle just to perform your daily routines. I'll be thankful when it's all over...and it's just a few days away!

Congrats on not having to get anywhere near Wal-Mart. You, my friend, are a SMART shopper!

Fucking awsome! Like TSO and Hawk mentioned that's brilliant. You should think about writing as a side job. :worship:
