House Votes to Repeal 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'

I'm a left wing liberal scumbag but I'm not really a huge fan of this law. I think equal rights are important but I just don't like the idea of fucking with the military. Our military rules all others and I just wouldn't chance fucking it up.

Homosexuals enter the armed forces for the exact same reason as heterosexuals. The only people that will fuck it up are people that can't restrain their bigotry. And how would such people react to the nature of being a soldier in a foreign land anyway? You're a soldier, you follow the orders of your commanding officers. Your commander in chief just ordered you to stop giving a shit about homos.

Bingo. All that matters on the battlefield is how good a shot you are (not really, but in terms of gross over-simplifications, this one is pretty good).

Think carefully about the origin of the policy - it's not like this is the first time DC has had something to say about orientation policy in the military...

I have no issue with gays in the military at all. If they want to serve then more power to them. And politicians and military brass are always complaining about enrolment numbers being low, you would think they would welcome this. I do not see this as a morale buster at all--but I have never been in the military so I can not say for certain

to be honest, if they're gonna let gays in the army, it's only fair they let straight people in the navy.
