how did chuck die? if he was rich, would he be alive now????

The worst thing was, Chuck did not have health insurance. His mom posted something on empty words I think advising people to make sure they have it...Bills from his condition consumed his family, and they had a lot of problems I think with doctors wanting money up front to treat him. We're talking SERIOUS money, not just thousands, I'm thinking hundred thousands, between traveling to specialists, room and board for family members, as well as the actual hospital and doctor bills.
Cancer is so hard because when someone dies, there's so many "what if's?" I've been there and it sucks.
I'm sure if anyone could still donate it would help them out incredibly with medical and funeral expenses. I would contact emptywords if you could help out.

Please don't make this an argument for a centralized health care system. I've lived under one and I can say I'd honestly rather pay more. We have better doctors, equipment, and facilities here because most of the best doctors come here to practice (they can make a lot more money here). I'm saddened by the loss of such a great musician, and I don't want to see all the anti-US people on this board start blaming our government. He should have had insurance; everyone knows you need it here. Either way, I don't think that more money could have cured him. RIP Chuck.

thats the shit of it though...
no insurance company would have picked up a patient like chuck, with the condition he had.
insurance companies, in general, do not cover pre-existing conditions. meaning, if you got diagnosed with lung cancer a week ago and just became an active patient under an insurance plan today, any treatment of that pre-existing lung cancer will NOT be payed for.

health care should be free like in Spain.

seriously though, that does suck.

But it isn't free, the cost is paid in higher taxes and the quality of the care isn't as high. There isn't a perfect system. Centralized health care provides lower quality care, but it is available for everyone, and everyone shares the cost. The US system basically involves you paying for insurance so that when you get sick, your bills are covered. They don't accept people with pre-existing problems because the whole point is that you pay into the program while you're healthy to "insure" yourself in case you get ill. It's not a perfect system, either, but I know that we have the best facilities and doctors in the world. I hope at least some people learn the importance of having insurance from this horrible loss.

Health care? What's that?

...When ya' get siick in -oztraaaaalya- we just drink croco'dile juice, fixes everything.

Tell me jimbobhickville, do you have complexes? Why do think that everything written here has to do with "bad" USA?
I din't mean that. I just said, that in Germany EVERYONE has an insurance or is being insuranced from the state, if he cannot afford it. If the doctors here are good, that is another issue. And ofcourse, when someone has something like brain tumor and his countrymen docs can do nothing (or even if they could) if he has the money, he will come to the USA because the best doctors are there, whether he is insuranced or not.
That's all. I don't know what kind of tumor and where exactly Chuck had it, but he might have lived longer if he had money.
