How do Binural Beats?

How would it be possible to recreate Binaural beats in a DAW such as Cubase, Reason, etc?

I suppose you could use two signal generators (sine waves), panned hard left and right, set to slightly different frequencies.

The listener would probably need headphones for the best effect.
