How do Droid?

:D

But seriously, the G2 unquestionably has the world's stupidest "keyboard hinge" design, and the hardware isn't even that impressive (800 Mhz clock speed), so I'd wait for the next MyTouch personally. And HTC > Samsung IMO, though HTC's battery life is always notoriously shitty, tough call...

I just got an X recently, and I fucking love it. Its my first smart phone, so maybe that has something to do with it. It is fucking gigantic, a man's phone for sure. I have giant gorilla guitar hands, so it really helps with touching and whatnot. Great resolution, fast and can do whatever really. HDMI out is pretty cool too, don't really know if the other ones have it. My woman has an Incredible, she loves the fuck out of it, but you know girls love anything they can access facebook with. They seem to be pretty similar, only mine is waaaay bigger, not so much thicker, but the screen is fucking huge lol.

damn you
because of you I bought it in this very moment

You bought a Galaxy S? If so, you're definitely going to be amazed at all the stuff you can do with this... the most useful feature I've been all over is the fact that it record 720p video... and that mic actually does a great job, as long as it isn't overloaded (like at a concert... just not happening... no matter what you do).

I'm probably gonna purchase Galaxy S as well, I really dont know what Froyo adds, never had a Droid phone, just an iPhone but I'm really keen on switching to the Droid world as it seems much much cooler and the features seem insane

I have the Samsung Moment running DF remix 4.0 rom, works great and its twice as fast as the stock Sprint rom. Waiting for 4G in my area before I upgrade to the Epic... Try out the Finger Play app! Its a MIDI controller over WIFI.

My Galaxy S arrived today
It's amazing!

but I'll leave it at home until my case & sd card arrives (should be tomorrow), I don't want any scratches on that thing

Which one did you get dude? There are I believe 5 different versions available over here (one for each of the four major carriers, and then one for some no-name, and each differs slightly in features such as the presence/absence of a slide-out keyboard, front camera, rear-camera flash, etc.

Clock speed ain't everything. ;) The processors of the G2 and the new MyTouch are almost identical (and they feature the same GPU), both 2nd gen. Snapdragons. It's just that the MSM7230 of the G2 comes factory-clocked at 800 Mhz to increase battery life. Theoretically, both CPUs are able to run at the same speed - and there are already people who run their G2s @ 1,4 Ghz (and higher) stable.

But even at 800 Mhz, the 2nd gen. Snapdragons outperform the popular 1st gen. Snapdragons @ 1 Ghz as well as Samsung's Hummingbird and it's brother, the Apple A4.

So, having a 2nd gen. Snapdragon @ 800 Mhz is actually quite sensible. A higher clock under Froyo at this point wouldn't make that much sense as battery drain outweighs the hardly noticeable performance boost. Yet, by the time Gingerbread and it's successors will drop, the very same processor will have enough horsepower on tap to perform admirably.

HTC and T-Mobile just fail to communicate these advantages to the peers who simply compare clock speeds.

In Germany there's only one (well, an 8 and a 16gb version); without flash and without a slide-out keyboard

Actually the G2 has beat out the Vibrant in all bench marks including video playback. Granted the Vibrant has the AMOLED screen which is nice, but the G2 beats it out in all aspects.

The 800HMZ Qualcomm Scorpion is on a totally different chip set & is not an ARM based processor like the Vibrant. It has the capability ro run ArM Processing, but its a MUCH faster processor and eats less battery life then the ARM based processor on the Vibrant.

On top of that the G2 can access the T-Mobile HSPA+ Network (as does my Nexus one) and I currently see speeds of 3Megabit.

Here are the speed tests:

Now the Vibrant has another one up on the G2 and thats its 3D Processing which is MUCH faster then the G2.

I dont use many 3D apps so the choice is clear for me. Faster Proc, Faster Tethering .... I choose the G2
