how do get mix feedback ? ¯\(°_o)/¯ (100% ITB, fake drums)

Well, as said in the title it's completely mixed ITB because I have no hardware and the drums are Avatar for shells (except kick that is roughly 70% replaced) and Metal Foundry for cymbals.

Two questions (maybe these should be in another section):

1. In the past when I put the final limiter on the master bus it would act even on kick hits when I tried to get to around 9dB RMS. In this mix it only acts when the snare hits, the rest of time it's idle.
Is this normal? I know that it at least sounds better to me than my previous shit mixes (while this one is obviously still shit).

2. The way I process toms I need them to be at ridiculously high intensity levels (compared to the rest of the kit) for them to be audible. Of course I put high pass filters there but they still boom like crazy. Is it viable to try some multiband compression applied in each tom track to tame those subs? Because when I filter them higher I just get to hear the stick attack through the mix and no body.

I feel like I'm going to have a seizure listening to this.

Mix sounds ok. I think the guitars don't sound angry enough. It's all a bit too pleasant.

I don't really get what you mean by having a seizure.

What do you define as the guitars "not being angry"? Lack of gain, presence...?

I think he means music wise, it's very choppy and changey.

It sounds like a lot of low/low mid mud going on to me so it will most likely be constantly crapping on the limiter.

What's "choppy"? I associate chopping with cutting.

I added 0.5dB around 700Hz with a wide quality factor in the master bus with an eq because the mix sounded scooped there, that might have to do with the excessive low mids.

And there is no crapping whatsoever on the limiter. If you read my first post I even stated that the limiter only activates when the snare hits, the rest of the time it does nothing and I still achieve between 9dB and 10dB RMS.
