This was a pretty spontaneous test here. I was trying to figure out a way to get a good line out level from my PittBull. Turns out the volume of the amp and the output level of the Line Out jack are tied together. So, if I need more output from the Line Out, I have to turn up the amp and I'm trying to do this in an apartment. So I got the idea to use my G-Major's multiple I/O features to get the right level into my PC.
I started with my MM Silo ( in E ) with the Gibson Iommi HB in the bridge and then added a '84 Gibson V ( tuned to D-ish ) with an EMG 81 in the bridge and then my LTD MV-300 ( tuned to D ) with an Evolution in the bridge. This is NOT the order the clips are in.
Each guitar is the same riff for about 10 seconds. Can you guess which is which?
I double-tracked the riffs and they're not real tight. I used Pristine Space to apply 2 impulses to each stereo track. I used GuitarHacks FinalV1 and FinalV2 for both tracks. I used the GH Final IR's for no other reason than they were handy.
Each of the 2 tracks has both impulses, panned hard to one side.
Again, these aren't copied and pasted loops, they're live takes and it's more about the tone than the playing. Tomorrow I may try leads too...
The only other thing I did was high-pass all at 79.9hz ( sorta chosen on impulse ) and low-pass them all at 10.5khz ( Trying to keep them tight and low-fizz ). I don't think 10.5k was low enough to be too useful though. I didn't notice a significant difference with or without it and I didn't feel like trying to tweak tonight.
Apparently I'm a mid-freak. EQ'd with a mild scoop I thought these sounded pretty good. Maybe too much gain? Maybe I need some lessons? My playing is really rough right now. Haven't picked up the guitar much in the last couple months.
Anyway, what do you guys think?
