A band wants me to do this to their drums :loco:

I can't imagine it is simply an EQ + more compression.
Help anyone?

just use a convolution reverb of a shitty rehearsal space and compress the shit out of it with an 1176ln.
did the same for a recent project. the first time i heard this was a dredg song, where they took a mic and walked outof the room ;-)
 
ive heard a few samples like this and they have always been called "generic drum sample name amped doubt thats of any help but the technique however its done is used alot in breakbeat music ive noticed
 
It's accomplished by using a lot of compression; the compression gives you the characteristic "pumping drums" sound you hear, and brings out the "air" and "room" in the drums.
