Hello
Was just tracking some synth keyboard part with a ritenuto (for the end of a song) and been wondering about how you guys go about 'aligning' a take or part of a performance that doesn't sit into a single tempo, especially if you need to align other elements such as a second take, some (midi) drum transients, guitars, etc afterwards (case in point, the keyboard not being alone in the part). Obviously the idea isn't to kill the performance, but rather preserve it as much as possible, and in this case align everything to the keyboard.
I used to have this external (out of DAW) audio-to-midi program (don't remember which atm) that would make up a midi tempo map out of a wav (through transients - beat detection, I guess).
I always record both the midi and audio feed when on synths, btw.
Anyways, would like to ask you for your approach in a case like this?
Thank you much for your opinions, much appreciated!
