How do you rate my promo pack

Hey Mick, I don't love the CD layout thing but the tracks and gear list are solid. What I don't understand is the goal of this rather than just an online EPK or even just a website.

Cheers
I am sponsoring a band competition so the cd is to give to the bands on the night(s). I thought it would be better than just a business card.

hey mick

i havnt listened to the tracks yet, because im at work, but i think the cover and the gear list looks absolutly horrible, the design of both is far away from looking anything professional :(
I think you should deserve something much better and pro looking than that!
remember, the first impression (visual) is the most important, if thats not good, than perhaps people think the music on the cd itself is not good and doesnt give it a chance to listen :(

cheers

Can't really give any recommendations as i'm not a studio but if I was given this on a gig night I probably wouldn't choose you as a studio to work with, let alone give it a good read through. The design just doesn't do anything for me, it reads like a shopping list and looks like it was knocked up in publisher. Maybe add some more information about yourself and the studio, what's your background? add more pictures of your gear and live room, what bands have you worked with? is there a good pub nearby we can have lunch at when recording?

lastly, I don't see any pricing information or offers that might entice me to choose you as a studio to work with.

If I find any great examples I will send them your way.

Thanks a million for the feedback guys.
I'm certainly no graphic designer:)
I have until Friday to get the final package sorted so I will have another go at putting something a bit more professional looking together.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I have not included pricing because I have mailed all the bands involved with a special rate for being an entrant in the competition.

Well personally, I don't like the "funny font" on the gear list. I prefer to go with something basic like arial for lists and other non-logo type of stuff. I don't like black on white and white on black. There is a pic of where you work but no pics of where the musicians will work. You can get many royalty free pics out there also. Maybe the program "gimp" can help you out because when you put letters over pics or drawings it can look lame but when you add shadow it pops out more.

just use a really simple layout-less is more!
that way you don't have to fight with fancy stuff, but it still can look decent.
I would love to help you, but I don't have the time atm, if you need an artwork
like that for a project in the future, I could help you, just hit me up with a pm.
But I need some time because I am working a lot atm, but a simple, clean and
halfway professional artwork would be no problem, also business cards.
