It's pretty dull-sounding, I have to say. The high end is somewhat harsh, even though it's not pronounced and the tone just doesn't seem to cut well at all. Sorry for the negativity man, but I can't really find anything I like about it.

I assume that's your V-amp there? Here's something I did today roughly just to try out the SimulAnalog Guitarsuite pack:

Yeah man, put that into context with a bass and you wont know whats going on. Maybee let us know what you used to get the tone and we could start from there.

Yeah, it is indeed the vamp- but running through a peavey bandit with the thick switch pulled and then miked up. I'm almost desperate to improve my tone but really broke lately- so I've been experimenting with stuff like that. I think it might be time to start thinking of selling a few things. I bet a podxt would cure what ails me- at least temporarily

God just three quarters left and I'm done at the U. I can't even wait.

The SimulAnalog JCM-900 simulator is actually really worth checking out before you go out and buy a POD.
