How dumb is Taake?

Have you actually been to Asia lately? I've lived there, so I suspect I have a much more current idea of how the swastika is used. In Japan, the immediate assumption upon seeing a swastika in any context other than the Blood Flag is "Buddhism." Most maps in Japan, for instance, continue to identify temples with swastikas. It remains a common motif both in art and textile patterns, as well as in its usage in film and anime/manga:

PR will do wonders.

The eastern conception of the symbol has nothing to do with someone who most likely has less-than-sterling views about humanity smearing a swastika on their chest in Hitler's "fatherland."

Jus Osborn would tell you that it is also something affiliated with biker/outlaw cultures.

Context does matter--but in this case it is quite clear what the intent was it seems.

What ideas would a listener primed about Nordic, Aryan, and/or pagan glories linked to Western Europe make of the symbol is the real question here.

Taake guy is just a douchebag.
I’m inclined to agree.

This just screams self-absorbed Marilyn Manson crap to me.

If you could witness any event past or future, which one would you choose and why?

Armageddon. As much as I'm fed up with most of this world, I would still like to see development of certain of the few things that interest me. I'd rather die at the same time as everything else dies.

You moved from the specific case to a general 'rule', so I thought I'd do the same.

You still haven't answered my question about reclamation. Why should Hitler be allowed to own the symbol forever? For that matter, why should offended Jews be allowed to own it?

The Jews do not own it, it is only that all the other nations involved in WWII agree with them on stigmatising the swastika more or less. I guess that is only reasonable for the Jewish, and you can related the others' behavior to whatever...respect, humility, or the "Zionist conspiracy" if you are one of that stripe...

I think it is plausible, for the negative connotation is the one the swastika has recently gained, and it outweighs all others.
Again: let it be said that I am against such dumb censorship - Banning does not help; information is better, but who wants educated people?
