How to get Overkill/Anthrax bass sound going direct? What plug in etc?

Always, but sometimes it does not matter when put in contest. But one can always phase align in the DAW...

the thing is, a bass is not out by a consistent ammount, it differs with every note.. time adjuster is the best fix i have for now, any one else got any tricks?

Shure! In 9 out of 10 times i move the di track a little in the DAW. Move with eyes (the overtones have to match) AND the ears. Maybe it just sounds great when they are NOT 100% in phase. Use the delay of the DI track like an EQ.

FWIW, I just read in EM, it's 1ms delay for a mic one foot away, mixed with DI.

I never go to the delay chart. Fuck math! I end up just listening to the fucking thing.
