How to get the At The Gates - Cold solo tone?

Does anybody know what gear ATG recorded with on Slaughter of the Soul, specifically for solos? And what's that semi-fluttery effect at about 2:02?

Buy the rerelease of Slaughter of the Soul and there's a little blurb from the vocalist about that. It was a Peavey (probably a 5150?) with a Boss Metal-Zone and Heavy Metal pedal and a custom built cabinet. Start with that.

I've never been a fan of the Metal Zone really, but maybe I should give it another shot. I've got a 6505+ and can't get that tone, and I'm still not sure what that effect is around 2:02 in the solo. Thanks so far.
