How to get this inmense Snare Verb drum sound (Lamb of God)

I've gotten pretty damn close to that sound; this is an example of some drums I'm mixing:

Here's what I did:

Find a ringy snare sample, in this case I used Slate Snare 17a. Then I used some side-chain compression on only the snare sample. Crank the input of the compressor/limiter, with medium attack and the slowest possible release. Blend the compressed signal with the uncompressed snare. Here's a screen-shot of the compressor/limiter settings I used:

I hope that helps!

sounds like a really short decay on a big room size with some kind of envelope on the reverb it self

That exact clip, the snare chain will be something like, Snare > Reverb > Compression. Its obvious that the reverb is being compressed, that it was placed before the compressor, that way, with a quick release setting the reverb tail gets boosted, if the reveb tome is kept short, then you achieve the sound of a very dominate reverb that has a quick tail. I should also mention that its obvious that the reverb was rendered in mono whihc might have been intentional as it has a very different effect to the sound of the snare by effecting the stereo field.

The reverb tone itself sounds like you could get near identical with CSR Hall.

Isn't that the fastest release? I thought the 1176 attack and release knobs were at the fastest settings when fully clockwise?

Interesting to hear how the verb is automated on different beats. Or, that's what it sounds like to my ears.

I used to be a HUGE LoG fan.....and back in the day I heard that Adler said he never used triggers.....but....that sure as hell sounds like sample replaced kicks to my ears.

A real vagina....that´s what I need....

Thanks for the amazing input, I´ll start by compressing the shit out of the reverb, but which way will you manage it?
I guess:
Create the Snare Verb Mono bus
- Put the reverb of your choice
- Eq
- Put a compressor with quick release and start experimenting
- Then automate the bypass of the comp so only works when is needed
¿? Thanks!

There was/is some multi-tracks to "Laid to Rest" around....which includes a very tasty snare mis-trigger. Totally obvious however you would never tell listening to the full mix. Not sure about his toms but his snare and kick have PLENTY of sample augmentation if not fully replaced.

expecting an instance of bombfactory 1176 to behave in any way like a real 1176 is like expecting a barbie doll to have a real vagina.

Well, it may not sound like it, but the knobs work the same way. Anyway, I almost alway use the quickest release with 1176s for metal drums.

I meant Snare17. I also never knew that about the knobs on the 1176, however I'm pretty sure the bombfactory plugin has slower attack and release when turned clockwise.
