After the departure of our keyboardist I'm wondering if I can use what he has recorded as samples live. If so what is the best way to do this? I have a midi controller and a laptop.

Do you take each wave file and sample them in something like halion? What is the best software to do this with? If any of you have suggestions on helping me out it would be greatly appreciated.

It's what we are gonna do with my band too. Just have a session for every song, with a click for the drummer, and the samples tracks sent to the output of the card that would be given for the live engineer. Dealing with a sampler is really too complicated and source of errors !

We use a laptop running cubase with one session for the whole set and markers at the beginning of every song. Our drummer only has to hit the right arrow key to go to the next song and space to start playback. If our drummer can use it then it must be pretty much fool proof.

Cool sounds like the best way to go is to use cubase sessions cause i have all those saved. My only concern is the intentional tempo changes in the songs.

How do you guys send the tempo track to the drummer while syncing it up with the cubase session? Thanks a lot to all the responses!

we use alesis control pad for our drummer to manualy trigger loops and stuff.

With all the tempo and signature changes we wouldn't be able to play to a click anyway.

To avoid having to deal with tempo changes i'd recommend to bounce the click from the original project and import to the live-session.
We just use a stereomix on one channel and a clicktrack on the other so there are no tempochanges in the live-session tempotrack.
So the stereomix goes out on output 1/2 to the PA and the click on output 3(/4) to our drummer.

awesome! thanks to everyone its helped me figure out what i need to do. this is the only forum I would ever post a question on cause everyone is very professional.

Yep thats exactly what my band does too. Never had an issue either.
