Yes indeed I was very much impressed. I don't think this was the best Anathema gig I ever saw, I know it for sure!
The first couple of songs were really heavy, and good enough to blow anyone there away. The festival had been pretty calm all day long. Most of the stuff played there was pop music, with some rockbands, some nu metal and some hardcore and some punkrock here and there. But when Anathema started to play... oh my!
They started 15 minutes late because Danny's plane was delayed. But then, when they got on stage, they started to play Fragile Dreams. And from the first seconds already, it was clear that it was going to be heavy. And heavy it was!
On Pressure, the lead guitar had some distortion, good enough to put it more upfront compared to the album version. Then some faster and harder songs after that (see the setlist) and finally a bit of relaxing (good enough to take some breath again after all the jumping, banging and screaming).
Glad that that girl who was presenting the festival let us cheer for Anathema, so that they could come back for an additional song. Nice to hear Comfortably Numb again
One little hint for the lads: drop A Fine Day to Exit for Release or so
And although A Dying Wish is one of my favourite tracks, I didn't miss it really so much. Would've been nice to hear it, but even without, it was the best Anathema gig I saw.
