I dont think this counter-culture hero got enough attention here on the forum. As you may or may not know, Hunter committed suicide last weekend. I figured there would be some fans here. I know Mike is.
Fear and Loathing in Las vegas is a 20th century journalistic masterpiece. Discuss.

i liked his books for the most part...i dont read much though. i liked a lot of his editorials too....one of the best pieces on 9/11 ive ever read was Hunter's.

I tried to watch that movie once while I was realy stoned, but I couldnt figure out what was going on so I turned it off.

And that's my Hunter S. story.

ha! that movie fucking ruled. Hunter had a cameo. try watching it drunk. getting stoned will get you nowhere.

I tried watching it once too, and just found it fucking weird/hard to follow, and shut it off. I then saw some interview with the director and by golly, he was mightily fucked in the head, but entertaining none the less :-D

I watched Fear and Loathing... once, enjoyed it, and then never was able to see it again without becoming extremely aggitated... I'm not a fan of drug movies and that's probably why it got annoying but it had it's moments the first time...

I heard he was on the phone to his wife and shot himself during the conversation, pretty fucked up.

The only time I've actually seen parts of the movie was when I was drunk at this party...I seemed to have severe ADHD at the time when I was trying to watch it so I got sidetracted. I shall rent it though...everyone will attempt to kill me if I don't!

haha! everyone, i meant the *book* not the movie (even though it was based on the book). you guys used cliff notes in high school i bet.

anyway, yeah, id like to see a link to that 9/11 piece. got one NFU?

ps: try the movie again. if you thought "lebowski" had quotable lines in it, youll appreciate "fear and loathing"....

oh, and, decadent: the director of "fear and loathing" was none other than terry gilliam. and im sure youll recognize that name from......monty python.

I did notice that, but it doesnt change much for me. I'll try drunk, eh?

i've only seen fear and loathing once, and i was so baked i could barely understand what was going on, i only remember the part where he's in the bar and all the people are lizards and the floor is liquid(?)

actually i was at a bookstore today and i read the first chapter of the *book* and thought it was great; i've really been meaning to read it...but i'm poor. hopefully the library has a copy...
