I am drinking Starbucks now, and it's not terrible

"these days" ???

Have we met?

I think I'm just so out of the loop lately that I really don't have a hand on the pulse of the US anymore. I hear things second-hand and the things I hear are a little different to what was going on a few years ago.

I dunno, again I haven't been there in a while besides the occasional visit, and there will always be the giant chains and superstores and stuff, but my impression is that people seem to be tiring of the "bigger bigger bigger" mentality.

I could be wrong, just my impression.

half of the reason our country is up shit creek financially is because of that mentality... so yeah some have grown to resent it...

Funny, I actually thought about you today when this dummy at work expressed her love towards Italian food and said Olive Garden is one of her favorite restaurants,
to which she got my both eye brows raised and I just turned around to my computer and ended the discussion right there.

oh my

Well I'm glad stupid people remind you of me, Karen.

It's ok, I know what you mean...just havin' a bit of fun :loco:.

To be honest, as far as food goes, The Olive Garden isn't that bad as long as you look at it for what it is: generic food with Italian stereotypes. It's not disgusting or anything, it's just so completely un-Italian that whenever someone versed in real Italian cuisine eats there, it tends to give a "wtf?" sensation.

I look at it like I do McDonald's. McD's isn't American food; it's fast food. People who eat real American food cooked well know there is an abyss between the two. Same with Olive Garden. I have to explain this to many of my friends and colleagues here, that real American food isn't fast food, and that a real burger is a faaaaaar cry from any fast food burger.

BTW, I grilled some steaks and sausages tonight...hadn't grilled in a while and it was good.

I'm still confused, though. What exactly are "Italian" sausages? Of course the sausage here is different because it's prepared a little differently, but what is the differentiating factor in the US between Italian sausage and "regular" sausage? In my opinion it's pretty much the same, just different ingredients when it's being butchered, right?

We slaughter at least two pigs a year and we put red wine, salt, pepper, and I think a little sugar in the mix and mix everything up with our hands on a big table, then use the intestinal walls to seal the links.
