ok, Ominous, I will do so many horrible things to obtain that comic, but not anything nearly as gruesome as what I would do for an original issue of Amazing Fantasy #15, the first issue in which Spiderman appears.
If by horrible you mean parting with vast amounts of cash I might be down. I should add that it's probably only in fair condition at best.
Another rare book my dad gave me is Strange Tales #117. This has the first appearance of Dr. Strange.
Maybe I should read these sometime.
Does anybody else read comics these days?
My favorites right now are:
Black Forest
The Walking Dead
and I have faith that Astonishing X-Men could be great.
I have been casually reading the new Ultimate Spiderman, and have been moderately impressed, though the originals by Stan Lee are still more compelling, though very old school and not nearly as racy as the new comics.
I actually just started reading Sandman recently. The first collection (preludes and nocturnes) is pretty uneventful imo. I'm going to read the next one because I've heard that they get more interesting further into the series.
i actually heard the same thing about the first volume and that makes total sense. i mean think about buffy season one as compare to season two. you have to establish your characters first and then once the audience has a good feel for them you really go to town with the stories.
i reccomend the sandman graphic novel the dream hunters too. its a one-off which i think stands up very well on its own to someone not versed in the series.
Yeah, but season 1 of Buffy was interesting, and made me want to keep watching. Sandman volume 1 made me want to reach for different books. It's got an interesting story arc, but the stories themselves were nowhere near as interesting as Buffy's first season. I do see what you're saying about setting up the story. I look at Preludes as the first chapter of a book. Check it out anyway because I would assume that certain characters will be coming back in later "chapters."
I finished the Firefly DVDs over the weekend. I can't wait to see what happens in the movie. Awesome show.
Did you read the second Astonishing X-Men? Also very good.
Four Buffy/Angel TV movies planned?
Tuesday, 6th July 2004
Appearing on the Australian television show Rove Live, Buffy and Angel star James Marsters revealed he had been approached by Joss Whedon to star in at least one of four television movies set in the Buffyverse.
Marsters did not provide any detail on the movies other than that each would focus on one particular character, and that either all four would be made or none at all. As far as Marsters was aware, only he has comitted to the project so far.
We'd speculate that other prime candidates for movies of their own would be Willow and Giles, and perhaps Wesley, and that if all four movies were part of an all-or-nothing deal, perhaps this implies all four would tell smaller parts of a larger, overarching story?
