I did a little Mic Pre shootout. Chandler TG2, API 512c, Neve 1073DPA

Shiiit... I gotta stay away from that Chandler down at the studio then. As usual, API wins.

haha...I think the chandler is good with other source, but for heavy guitars it's not my cup of tea

Just keep in mind the source. I used an SM57 and an AT4050. Both have a lot of top and I dialed in the amp fairly bright. I was about to head to Austin,TX for an even bigger shootout at my friend's studio and thought I'd do a quick bounce between the pres I had in my possession. On a darker source, or with darker mics like ribbons the end results would've been a lot different.

If nothing else, seeing some character differences will help me pick the right pre to match with certain mics and sources in the future. Kind of like using a mic with a certain frequency response on certain sources.
 
I Loved 2 - The Neve the most.
Was the most balanced sounding to me.
Surprised at how fizzy the chandler was!
