I found an excuse to make a new Swans thread!

I have some extra cash right now and can afford some of their expensive shit, somebody tell me which albums I need desperately.

I have copies of:
The Great Annihilator
Children of God
World of Skin

And CD-Rs of:
White Light From the Mouth of Infinity
Filth
Love of Life

Love of Life and The Great Annihilator are my two favorites, somebody tell me which others I need or I'll just buy proper copies of the CD-Rs. Thanks!

I need to strategically bump this thread when Nate is around.

Also, I think I just placed a bunch of eGay bids on over half of Swans' discography.

Getting a half way decent price on some of those (mostly Love of Life and White Light) on eBay is VERY hard. I think I paid about $45 for both of those from the same seller. I consider that to be lucky.

My vote would be to try to get 'Love of Life' and 'White Light from the Mouth of Infinity'. Both those are excellent, as you know, and they continue to appreciate because they haven't been reissued yet. You could always get 'Various Failures', which contains various tracks/remixes/etc. from the 'Children of God'/'White Light'/'Love of Life' era. It should be quite a bit cheaper, and its a two disc.

You might also think about getting 'Soundtracks for the Blind'. It is Swans last full album, and it is a 2 disc, epic journey through everything Swans had become by the end of their career. It is very subtle and intimate compared to even 'The Great Annihilator'. However, I would place it a touch behind 'The Great Annihilator', 'Love of Life', 'White Light . . .', and 'Children of God'.

You really can't go wrong with whatever you get, though.

Oh . . . 'Cop' is similar to 'Filth'. I have both of them, but they are a LITTLE on the rough side. I give a lot more listens to their mid to later stuff.

You might also keep an eye out for the Neurosis & Jarboe CD released last year. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend it. It took a while for me to get into, but it is absolutely HAUNTING.

Okay, I'll definitely get Soundtrack for the Blind, and I have bids placed on Filth (LP), Various Failures, and the Cop/Young God & Greed/Holy Money reissue. I'll get that Neurosis & Jarboe soon as well.

Just won Love of Life for $26, and I saw WLFTMOI for $99.99 a little while ago. :hypno:

I do not like that Neurosis & Jarboe thing. Sorry to say, Jarboe's voice sucks. It woulda been better had that album just been and instrumental thing.

Jarboe seems to be one of those vocalists that people either love or hate, no inbetween. Personally, I get an 8 foot boner when I hear her voice.
