I have never heard Born Again or Seventh Star.

as you say in the other thread, after Heaven and Hell (and really, I'm not even remotely a Dio fan), Iommi long ago exhausted his bag of tricks.

There was a rumour going around the Dio forum about a Rainbow reunion -- I think Dio himself may have even helped fuel it -- and Blackmore's response? "Bollocks".

if Rainbow would reunite with every member, the stage would have to include about 237 musicians. and a separate dressing room just for Ritchie's ego. and one for Joe Lynn Turner's hair.

Heh, no it would be a reunion of Dio era Rainbow only. You know, when it was good.

Well...I guess Cozy Powell is dead now. Geez...to think, we're only talking about THREE albums with Dio. Just remarkable, you'd think it would be like 10 albums.

This is insane! Kind of like realizing that Jimi Hendrix only ever made 3 studio albums....

If Hendrix didn't die, you know he would be a homeless crack bum living on the streets these days, smelling of stale urine and cat feces. Dio would throw him some loose change though. :loco:

I haven't listened to either in a long long time, but I recall Seventh Star being decent, and Born Again being complete trash.

Hendrix would've become Unquestioned Lord and Master of the Universe by now if the CIA hadn't killed him.

I don't even care about these Sabbath albums, shit I don't even own Heaven and Hell.

Hendrix was moving in a jazzier direction and had already foresworn the crotch writhing and guitar burning. He might be a junkie today, but he'd be a junkie with an ounce of integrity and four stone classic studio albums under his belt generating him crack income. Dio is still mincing about elves and such; some might call it single minded purpose, I call it boring.:)

Christ, what a bunch of faeries :loco:

Born Again is pretty cool. I mean, it's Ian Gillan and Black Sabbath, what do you expect? You expect heavy Sabbath riffage with heavy Gillan screamage, of course! And that's what it is! There's some cool stuff on there, Trashed is a good opener, Disturbing The Priest and Born Again make good 'epic' songs, and I must say I do dig the vocals for Hot Line...it's classic 80s headbanging all the way! So, good stuff.

Seventh Star I've only listened to once in its entireity...too short for its own good. Again, a great singer with a cool lineup...it results in a good album. The biggest departure from the 'traditional' Sabbath sound (basically being the first three albums which appear to be the only ones people in this thread own :loco: SAD!). The first two songs fucking rule.

Hendrix would have ended up as a judge on American Idol.

For all of you that don't own Heaven and Hell....tut tut. It's probably the third greatest Sabbath album.

I know how much H&H rules, I just don't own it.

Whoa, H&H. I remember that used to be an arts and crafts store.

Haha, He is the master elf himself. What is he like five foot tall? I guess he figures he always has the dungeons and dragons crowd. It is a shame that a guy with such talent is stuck in such a corny genre writing the same music year after year.

Heaven and hell is good, so is Mob Rules. Last thing Iommi has written thats worth a shit.

Born Again has some creepy sounding tunes on it (in a good way)

The title track and Dusturbing The Priest are cool, but it's reputation as a Spinal Tap-worthy disaster isn't undeserved...the lineup makes less sense than a Jackson Pollock painting, and Digital Bitch is one of the most retarded songs penned by mortal man.

Wasnt there some flack about the Born Again cover--that they used someone elses cover? I thought I remember something about that, and I am too lazy to actually look at the Sabbath site.

The guy who did that cover was also doing the cover for Ozzy's album coming out at that time, so for the sake of diplomacy he deliberately tossed up a rubbish cover so that Iommi would reject it. However, Mr Iommi decided he liked it so he kept it.
I think it's some other album cover, just with the colours inverted or something ^_^;

Hmmm...that's a poll. Which cover is worse - Born Again or Dance of Death?
