If i record a drummer on a poor quality wav, is there anyway of extracting his beats to turn them into midi triggered high quality?

well if you track them channel by channel theres always Drumagog

What does it actually do ? I guess im just after something to pickup the hits and convert to midi if it has been invented yet?

yes, i think drumagog has midi output (if it doesn't, others do). but, like fredrik said, it'd be very tedious->impossible to do if you don't track the drums on individual channels.

If you spent some time with it, I'm sure you could do it--you might have some luck by filtering so that different frequencies trigger different hits--good luck with that!! Plus you have the problem of the cymbals sounding like shit. Unless you landed some unique, ghetto early Iron Maiden recording I'd just rerecord the damn thing.
