I love Whitesnake

Whitesnake are great. IMHO, David Coverdale is one of rock's most awesome singers and they've had/have some great guitarists.

If you like Whitesnake and haven't seen it, check out the Whitesnake "Live in the Still of the Night" DVD. Great video filmed at Hammersmith in London a few years ago with Doug Aldrich, Reb Beach, Tommy Aldridge, et al.

some days ago, i stumbled over a debate if Coverdale was using playback live nowadays.
being somebody that grew up with Whitesnake i could not believe it.
i investigated and came to the conclusion that he should limit himself to studio work.
he really doesn't deserve becoming a joke.

Love every single album these guys did, especially the Slip of The Tongue and 1987 too (the new album is amazing... sometimes is good to be bad :Smokedev:). The first CDs from Whitesnake are indeed bluesy and I SO FUCKIN LOVE THEM. Also, the first Blue Murder CD is a bitching album... John Sykes is a damn good fucking singer.

Ain't no love... in the heart of the city... :worship:

I saw Whitesnake with vandenberg, sarzo, aldrich(drums)? and I think Vai was with them or maybe it was Viv Cambell. Either way it kicked ass.89 I think it was

Sykes has had a HUGE influence on my playing...and my idea about what 'tone' is...from Tygers of Pan Tang, to Thunder and Lightning with Thin Lizzy, and Whitesnakes 1987 release.

Yeah......that was the tour I saw. It was Vivian Campbell and Adrian Vandenburg on guitars. Loved the show, but I was sitting on the Vandenburg side (right side), everytime Viv would do a solo, I never heard it, because they had the guitars split hard left, hard right! I was pissed !

So I went and saw Whitesnake last night..

the current lineup is just LETHAL..

Aldrich and Reb Beach are top players, the rhythm section is spot on and Coverdale for being around 60 or so looks and sounds amazing...

I guitar teched for a friend that opened for them and got to look and Aldrich's rack of vintage les pauls and marshall heads ( plexi and vintage moderns)

Reb Beach had a rack of sexy Suhr sig axes ( koa with roswood necks, emg and gold floyds..insane!) and a Custom Audio Electronics od100 head..

Judas Priest , as much as I love them is going to have there work cut out for them following this band!

THe new stuff kicked live as well..

I saw them with Vandenberg, Sarzo, Cmpbell, and Tommy Aldrige and thought this lineup was actualy much better as a live band:OMG:

Did your friend get a pic of the rig? I'd love to see what kind of toys Doug has! I recorded a recent Whitesnake concert on my DVR from HDNET. Dougs tone was MASSIVE! :worship: I also recorded the Megadeth 'Blood in the Water' that Andy mixed. That rocked as well!

Doug uses many different things-saw a few pics in a german guitar mag where he showed some of his stuff.
There was a Maxon OD I think, different Marshall JMPs, I think a Diamond Nitrox (not sure about that, saw a few articles about his stuff)
Marshall Vintage Modern, he did workshops with the Marshall Randy Rhoads and stuff.
I know that he uses Gibson LPs most of the time (but with Suhr Aldrich Pickups) but that's it.

I think the guys at the Hugeracksinc. forum know what Doug uses.
