Hey all,

I sing for a heavy industrial rock/metal crew and I'm in the market for a new mic stand...problem is I keep on breaking them! The last one I bought was trashed by the end of one gig, and I'm not especially rough with them, but I do want to be able to buy something I can smash around a bit and lean on without having to worry about the freakin thing collapsing on me.

Anyone got a recommendation?

Cheers!

Yep..... since you ploay industrial, use industrial stuff. Don't buy a mic stand, just remove the clip
(and top) that holds your mic from your old one and take it to a welding shop and get a welder (some mechanic shops will have a welding machine) to make you one out of a piece of 1/2" stainless pipe. The 1/2" is the inside diameter and the outside will be about 7/8" so it will be about the same girth as a regular mic stand. The stainless pipe can be polished into a nice finish some fine sandpaper and you could drag it behind a truck and not break it.

Thanks for your ideas guys, I reckon making one is prolly the way to go...I asked our producer and he said much the same thing. All I gotta do now is find a metalworker around here! :D

Cheers!
