Sony A818 is $170 on Amazon. It is 8 gigs.

I've got the A816 and the sound quality is absolutely fantastic. It doesn't use an AC adapter but instead plugs right into your computer via a USB cable and charges within about 3 hours. The charge lasts for approximately 30 hours.

I've got a Creative Zen Vison W. I love it, and it comes with a free adapter! ...but this version little bigger than most ipods/ players, but it's awesome. But yeah, it's definitely not cheap

For mp3 players that charge through a USB port you can buy a USB AC/DC power adapter. It isn't difficult to find them dirt cheap.
