I need help with an effect

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum. I have a quick question for anyone who is willing to answer. I have been recording music for a few years now, and have gotten pretty decent, the only real issue is that I suck with effects. I want to put something similar to the effect at the 2:49 mark of this song

Yo dude! It might sound like a flanger, but it isn´t.
It sounds like an automated Filter.
If you want to play around with this, get the "One Knob" series from Waves. The "Filter" plugin does the job. Just automate to taste, and there you go!

Not a flanger, more phasing if anything. You could try first filtering a track down to phone-like, leave that same track's end part un-effected (on the clip there there's some filtering on this part as well) and then cross-fade between these two. Play around with maybe nudging one of the regions/clips very slightly and see if that would work. Otherwise, some automated phaser and filtering would also prob work.

Shit, didn´t realize that! Before i give you any mis-information, check youtube or google for "EQ automating". You basically just load up a large band EQ (7-10 bands will be enough) and automate the EQ so that it "sweeps" from the lows to the highs. It´s basically the same effect the "One Knob Filter" does. Hope this helps dude!

I sometimes do something like:

Set HPF high to, say, 500HZ

Set LPF to something like 800HZ and automate these to filters to sweep outward. Boom.
