I put some superchunks up yesterday...

...and the difference is huge. Now I regret I didn't do it at the last place I was at.

I couldn't stack them all the way up to the ceiling yet because I haven't got a proper way to support them now, but I still managed to stack up 50kg of concrete slab wool in the front corners and they tame the low-end a LOT.

For anyone who's working in small room and still not sure whether to do it or not, do it now! :)

Hear, hear!
Ermz and I have been preaching this for a while. You're welcome to join the club :)

superchunks = win

Been meaning to ask..

So YOU get the bass tamed for your mixes.. people outside the room perceive less bass as well? (tr- become less annoyed by the brootz?)

Has there been any research into the ideal mass or dimention for any given room, or is it a case of deeper/wider superchunk= lower effective frequency?

What size is the "hypotenuse" of everyones superchunks?

What? No... you just hear a more true representation of the low end in your mix man.

I know what bass traps are for - but it seems pretty logical it could add some dampening to the exterior for those lows as well (as a side benefit) no? :confused:

Mine are 78,1 cm (60x50x78,1), i.e. you cut a piece of rockwool to 2 equal halves of 60x50 and then you cut these diagonally. This means that the resulting pieces aren't a isosceles (weird word) triangle but honestly when mirrored symmetrically it looks great.

Let's suppose I'm a moron and don't know what superchunks are, like I care just point me to where I can buy some please

+1

Won't be applying it to this room tho, but the next one.

edit: I just google and it seems that it's a DIY solution where you first cut rockwool plate in half then cut those halves from corner to corner to get two triangles. Then stack those.
