I recorded Bleak the other day..

Your song is amazing, congratulation! Keep up the good work and work on the clean vocals!

Great work!

I just put a $5 mic in front of my amp and started playing. As for how long it took.. I guess it was about 6 hours. I had to learn the song and figure out some parts also.

Thanks to everyone who commented. Keep em comin.

Just thought I'd add to waht I said yesterday, cos I was a bit harsh yesterday. You're guitar playing is really good and so were the growls - if you could get hold of better recording equipment I'm sure you could do some excellent stuff.
Why not try recording a song of your own though? That way you can concentrate on what you're good at and leave off the clean vocals. And turn the guitars UP by the way. We all love loud guitars!

Not too bad. The clean vox are pretty bad though -- not that I'd sound any better if I tried singing that song though. Maybe you shouldn't have set the bar so high, the clean vox on Bleak are awesome (and plentiful)

The guitar tone's pretty decent. I'd like to have a better tone myself.

Musically very good!!

I was going to say too much gargle on the growls, but it's your own thing and it adds to it.

Clean vocals aren't as bad as people bashed them on this board.

I like it!! \m/

Very cool! The rhythm guitars sound like ASS though. I like the overall midrange voicing of them, but they sound really distant and kinda mushy. Your growls sound like you're puking. Not very aggressive. Timing's off in a few places. Clean vocals sound buried and not very confident.

MIDI drums suck, but that's cause they're MIDI. Ever used Drumkit from Hell? It's a pretty easy to use program and the drums sound REAL good.

Pretty good attempt at the song though. I LOVE hearing other people covering Opeth tunes. One of these days I'd like to do a recording of Demon of the Fall. I pretty much have all the parts for it down, just a matter of getting it all to tape.

Great work for a one man show. :)

As other people have said, clean vocals could use work, they're too soft. I'm sure if you worked on it long enough you could sing a bit louder without your voice cracking.

Guitars and growls are great in my opinion. Drums could be better, but theres not much you can do about that. :)

Oh yeah, where were the harmonies at the end? Surely it couldn't have been that hard to lay down another vocal track... ?

Well, I really didn't feel like messing with the clean vocals anymore. I actually didn't want to do the vocals at all, but I didn't want any empty space.
