I spent all day yesterday listening to metal

I am not saying that what Ulver do is bad, it is just not "classic" material as some people like to say, mostly metal people that know fuck all about electronic music. Perdition City is regarded by some as the ultimate metal transformation and a really forward-thinking record, same goes with Svid Negger and A Quick Fix, which it is clearly not. It is very average music from people learning the media.

I really need to dig out my Anthrax records more often...

Speaking of which. I have a real problem with indie hipsters wearing ironic Anthrax and Iron Maiden t-shirts. Wear all the Quiet Riot, Strypers and Twisted Sisters shirts you want but having a laugh at Anthrax and Iron Maiden is just wrong.

Nattens Madrigal is really, really good. Ulver's electronica is pretty mediocre electronica as far as I am concerned.
Aye.

Also someone mentioned Enslaved and I never got into them. I think the new one is really bad and I think one or two songs on Below the Lights is OK. Eld didn't seem very good either.

i wore my vital remains forever underground shirt last night to the us maple show. it has a hole in the hem from when i used it to open a beer bottle 5 yrs ago. i didn't feel very metal in it though.

I know that Perdition City and Ulver's other recent CDs aren't authentic electronica, but whether by accident or design, they have a dark urban atmosphere that completely captures my attention, and I prefer it to (great in its own right) Bergtatt.
