I started to like this country until...

Yeah Australia is great.

Instead of getting shot at you get stabbed/bashed/glassed in the face instead.

Or you just get shot at by criminals who have guns because we all know they handed in the firearms voluntarily.

Has banning guns reduced our Violent Crime?

NOPE. :guh: People just commit murders, roberies, assaults with other weapons.

The murder rate is down from 2000.
Our murder rate is still slower per 100,000 than Canada and the US.
Just FYI lol

Take any crime statistics between countries with a grain of salt guys.

If you actually study them, you will find that you can't compare them due to how/why/from whom they are collected. I don't have time to explain, but lets just say I was forced to do a 50 page research paper on it when I was in college.

As for the gun stuff, have any of you guys across the pond been to the US and driven through the ghetto of any major US city? I think your perception on gun ownership would change in a heartbeat

This isn't about gun control. This is an absolute tragedy committed by a person (or people) with no respect for human life and also no respect for any sort of republic or democracy.

We still have people in this country who feel slavery was a great thing, people who think a womans place is in the home cooking and making babies. These are the same people who believe in God and guns. When you disagree with them, you are unAmerican. We have the first non white president in our counties history, and instead of celebrating our ability to get passed racism, we have fools that claim he wasn't born here. We passed universal health care to try and take care of our fellow Americans, but what came of it was the worst in Americans. A lot screaming saying they don't want their tax dollars paying to help others less fortunate. We may never know what caused this nutcase to do this, what we do know is America is being looked at differently.

what we do know is America is being looked at differently.

This isn't exactly the first time people have seen a shooting spree reported, in fact, I don't think it will do much to change people's views of America.

Also, take a drive through ANY ghetto around the world and I'm pretty sure you'll find it pretty hostile, kinda comes with the territory......
But this doesn't really have anything to do with ghetto.

May I chime in with something useless that was probably said already.

The problem of USA isn't legal weapons, it's mainly all the jesus back bending fuckers, I grew up in a very religious country (Portugal) and still I have never seen so many fanatics like in the US, it's completely ridiculous, it's like they shove you down with a drug and your IQ goes down to 20 or something.
It is a GREAT country, don't take me wrong, but it's bound to have extremities since it's such a huge country with huge cultural differentials. It appears to me that they live so much in love with their own belly buttons that they forget they're habitants of a planet with other people, it seems they fail to have a grander perspective of things.

There are psychopaths and maniacs everywhere, but you hear more stores about random shootings, school shootings etc in the US and I believe that is not only because of the educational system but due to the over exaggeration with loving "God", every move the US makes needs to be justified by their peers as correlated with God, everything has to do with God, the bible this, the bible that... I notice when I sometimes see american news that they emphasise much more if the child that was killed was a good catholic kid that went to church every Sunday, it's a MAJOR factor in their society/culture and this obviously created disparities between parties.

I may be WAY off here, but this is the impression I get from an outsider of that country, it is the image that is passed on/what I interpret.

P.S.: When I say "them" I don't mean all americans obviously lol.

Once again, I think it's important to mention that the US is one big fucking country, with wildly diverse regions, climates, cultures, etc. - might as well be multiple countries honestly! I know you mentioned this in the beginning of your post Pedro, but it was mainly the following that I was responding to:

Just really wanna make clear that the bible humping nonsense is not nationwide by any means, it just tends to attract a lot of attention because everyone likes to laugh at stupid people and feel better about themselves.

It was supposed to be a reply to the idea that the weapon itself wouldn't really have an effect on the severity of the attack.
It's not really supposed to be a definitive rebuttal or argument, but it still applies I think.

You guys are missing the whole point. This Gifford chick was a nice looking piece of ass. Why can't crazy people shoot ugly women instead? Now all I can do is pray to baby jesus that reconstructive surgeons restore miss Gifford to an at least fuckable state.

Feel free to resume your tasteless gun control debate gentlemen, I am off to read Plato's Republic and sip tea.

I see, try a bomb then.

Not any bomb, but A-BOMB!
HAHAHAHAHA, GET IT? I MADE JOKE FUN!
