I still find Queensryche strange for doing this...

...because it just doesn't seem to fit the band what so ever. If Motley Crue did it on the other hand, it would make perfect sense, but Queensryche? Just absolutely bizarre.

Seattle progressive rock giants QUEENSRŸCHE have issued the following update:

"Two big new rumors to pass along today. The first is that the band has already begun work on their new album, and get this, it's nearly done being written. No word on a direction, theme or possible release date, but nonetheless, all those details are being worked on as we speak.

"But as we wait for more information on the new album, rumors of a spring/summer tour are starting to heat up. What we can tell you is that due to the success of the two cabaret shows in Seattle, the band has decided to take it on the road. No dates to announce just yet; look for those soon. In the meantime, [this video] might help get y'all excited."

QUEENSRŸCHE was interviewed on January 22 by "The Men's Room" on the Seattle station KISW 99.9 FM. The chat is now available for streaming in two parts using the audio player below.

QUEENSRŸCHE played two "cabaret shows" on February 4-5, 2010 at the Snoqualmie Casino in Snoqualmie, Washington. The concerts featured Geoff Tate, Scott Rockenfield, Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson and Parker Lundgren performing with a bunch of their friends. The Queensrÿche Cabaret was art, lust, dancing and naughty fun with the band performing their hits and never-heard-before selections accompanied by go-go dancers, burlesque dancers, drag queens, a juggler, ballet dancer, aerial artist, contortionist and much more.

It's called "running out of ideas"

It isn't humanly possible for them to milk OP MINDCRIME more than they have in the past 10 years, with re-releases and live sets performing it in its entirety or in suites.

Mindcrime II was an atrocity. I only heard a couple songs from their last one, and it didn't sound any better.

They did that cover album too.

Hate to say it, but give it 10 years, or less, and you will be able to see QR at your local summer festival on the "Classic Rock" stage.

WTF? You said it, this does not fit the band at all. I don't get it.

BTW, something I've been noticing for a long time. nomisofsiman, in your pic, with the placement of your finger, I always think you're wearing a clerical collar for a split second when I see it.

Everything except for the drag queens sounds great to me...

hahaha

But yeah, this is pretty strange... And I do hate watching them fall downhill like this. Its getting bad too if its come down to this.

Queensryche desperately needs to hang it up. This is getting sad. Actually, it's BEEN sad for quite a while.

The last arguably "great" Queensryche record came out in 1994 - that's 16 years ago. And they've been regularly releasing albums since, and with each passing one - they act as though "No guys! Really, this one's gonna be good", but it never is. Sure - you still have you fanboys hanging on, tolerating it all, but most anyone with a dissenting opinion has already given up on this band.

Why are y'all complaining? You did realize there were half-naked women in this show, right? And metal, right? Also, next to the video there was a commercial for Michael Wiltons new beer.

I'm confused - perhaps I'm on the wrong forum????

It's a cheap, desperate, and pathetic attempt at making more money. By the way, I have no problem with half naked women and metal. If it was Motley Crue or Buckcherry, it would totally make sense. Queensryche didn't use to have to rely on cheap stunts like this though, that's what's so disheartening.

I wish they'd just rename the band. In all seriousness, is there a band in Metal's history, who has ever actively pissed on their own legacy the way Queensryche has?

I 110% agree...it's a shame.

Jason, I couldn't agree with you more my friend.

I don't give a shit about their legacy, and most people who rag on the band haven't even listend to their recent albums, nor seen how they perform live recently.

The band is still trying to make a career out of being performing musicians, which isn't easy. So what is to you what they do with their time? At least they are still putting out albums, writing what they want to write, and doing what they want to do. Few bands can claim the same. And enough people are enjoying what they are doing to allow them to continue doing so.

Actually, I have, and they still sound killer live. With that said, their creativity went down the tubes when Geoff Tate tried to turn them into an alternative band in the mid 90s.

I could truly care less, but that still doesn't take away from the fact their new music is junk.

Few bands can claim the same. And enough people are enjoying what they are doing to allow them to continue doing so.

Most of their fanbase still thinks Queensryche is the epitomy of metal, which we all know isn't the case. The majority of them are clueless to bands such as Symphony X, Evergrey, Circus Maximus, Redemption, and Serenity.

You're my new hero! That's sooooo true!

You're missing the point here: it's half naked women and metal.

Half-Naked Women are still Half-Clothed Women, Claus ;)

Btw, I agree with Cheiron's point.

I thought Q2K was 87% brownass (Sacred Ground and Liquid Sky were the keepers). Mindcrime 2 had some right ideas, and some wrong ideas. American Soldier had a good heart but a broken brain. And Goddamnit, I still like Tribe even though you have to rearrange the tracklist to make it work.

Brian/Edgeofthorns - GT didn't write Alternative Ryche, DeGarmo did. Why'd you think he left after HitNF (which had some great songs too)

...I'm hearing you!

Regardless, who wrote HITNF, how can you explain Q2K? Besides, the song Cookoo's Nest makes me want to claw my eyes out! That has to be one of the worst songs to ever come from a metal band.....ever!

It depends on which half is naked!! QR is to my girlfriend what Savatage is to me. She was at those Cabaret shows and described them as "bizarre". That's about the worst thing she has ever said about QR.

I agree with most of what's been said on here, but I still love to go and hear Geoff sing. At least the times I've seen them the past 3 years, his voice seems to have gotten better. The high end is gone, but, man, his tone is somthing else!! I personally think QR went south when DeGarmo quit the band. I thought he was the heart and soul of QR. If you don't have anything to say, it doesn't matter who your vocalist is. My $.02.

I have seen Queensryche 4 times since 2005, and I will probably never see them again. Their Mindcrime performances are very cool because they are theatrical and put the emphasis on the stage-show and not the band themselves.

The truth is - Queensryche suck live these days. Sure, they play adequately, there's no doubt about that. But they are boring as hell, and their music sounds like "Diet Queensryche". With most other "old-school" bands that are still around today, when they play their old stuff live today, it sounds better, realizing the heaviness that was always inherently there. Saxon is a brilliant example of this. Not Queensryche. When they play their classic stuff, it sounds like a hard rock band trying to play metal - it just doesn't sound... right. It's very hard to explain but it just sounds like they're running on 50% steam - and yeah, they're boring. I probably won't pay to see them again.
