It's not even comparable, but c'mon the musicianship speaks for itself, and I don't buy that whole "they're writing music for an intended audience" bit, I mean so do MOST other bands.

Eh, I'm sure the Drudkh fellows could play all the CoF they wanted, but their style is simply minimalist- which creates a different atmoshphere as opposed to the goth-symphonic atmoshphere.

I'm with the people that said CoF were better on Dusk and Her Embrace and Principle of Evil Made Flesh, aside from the horrendous vocals. The music did have atmosphere, IMO. Cruelty and the Beast was where they began to lose it...big time. That album is so boring and simultaneously over-the-top that it's puzzling knowing that Dusk came out a year before it and is a mysterious, cinematic album from a seemingly inspired band.

Yeah, I don't know what in the hell happened on that album. I love songs like The Twisted Nails Of Faith... but that production...

"Nymphetamine" has a nice, thick and robust production, yet still a bit stripped down from Damnation and a Day, which soundwise was like a movie with a $200,000,000 budget.

agreed! though i also like Dusk and Her Embrace and about half of Midian and some other random older songs, but Cruelty is the best.
