i want to bitch slap the developer of autotune

Go watch the latest Linkin Park live video. Man, I wish they would have used Autotune (or any other pitch-correction) on Chester's voice... :Puke:

i have seen them live before.i dont need to see it again!!!!! another reason i hate autotune, its killing real music, but it pays bills so i should shut up!!!
:Puke:i almost feel bad i have to use it on a daily basis to pay bills......

Yeah well it fucking beats FLIPPING BURGERS IN 10-HOUR SHIFTS to pay the bills

sometimes i would take them 10 hour days in a heartbeat , not the norm day, but close, i am going off an 20 hour work day yesterday with no sleep yet today.... ill get about 2 hours of sleep this afternoon sometime between prepping mixes this morning .then have a band stopping in that's on tour now, we have one day, there here to finish 2 more demo mixes from scratch. avg about 140 tracks each ...that still need a bit of work yet that has to be at roadrunner tomm...... fun life if you like long hours, no sleep, and deadlines tighter than your best friends baby sister. pretty boring life

man, what happened to the punk attitude of metal bands? used to be jam, drink a beer, done.

That's why I think the punk movement will never really die. As long as there is an interest in heavy music and lazy inebriated anti-socialists there will be punk.

Ugghh, I'm happier for it - that's the main reason I don't like most thrash (especially old-school), it's too punky, in that it's raw and much less musically interesting to me, because the guys are generally uneducated and/or lazy, and don't wanna take the time to be more creative like.

Hahahahahaha, too true, and I won't ever be caught listening to it

I dunno mate, generalising that old-school thrashers are undecuted could seem offensive to some. Not everyone is into the technical aspect of things. Thrash is fundamentally about attitude not about mathematical precision and you can't expect everyone do be into the more meticulous parts such as actual recording and gear. I guess, rather than being uneducated, a better word would be indifferent to certain things which might be considered very useful. Fair enough, this might seem like they are against learning anything to help them improve the way they write, their sound in general, efficiency in the studio etc...but maybe its the way they like it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm close to agreeing with you here, but uneducated might be a bit harsh.

yeah, I think the punk line divides a lot of metalheads into two camps. I'm pretty used to my dunce cap though, no sense taking it off now.

Very well said, and I hear ya - I did make sure to specify "generally uneducated," but I do stand by it, because the stereotype (founded at least in part in fact) of the old-school thrasher is an unwashed high-school dropout driving a muscle car and sporting a sleeveless denim jacket with a joint at his lips. And I really don't like ridiculously technical metal, as so many seem to think when I say I don't like old-school thrash, but rather comparing it to, say, Scar Symmetry, who I've recently gotten big into (especially their first album, which I like more than their most recent, but that's another story ;)), I just find their riffs much more interesting and overall the music speaks to me so much more. Other favorite bands of mine include In Flames, Opeth, Soilwork, Behemoth, Pain of Salvation, etc. - IOW, mostly modern bands (though the big exceptions being JUDAS PRIEST and to a lesser extent Iron Maiden). Sorry for the big OT!
