I've been recording death metal music a little bit and creating beats and I'm new to mixing and mastering and was wondering if there's an easy way to learn.

Hey @Christiaan ,

I've been learning for at least 10 years now, and I'm still learning today. Its a never ending game.

You could start with YouTube, I found channels such as JST Tones, URM Academy very helpful (There are heaps, just be careful as its a rabbit hole and can be information overload.)

An even better place to start would be a course of some sort if you have the time and money, I did HCMS this year and learnt quite a bit from Jordan. (Intervals, Silverstein, Neck Deep.)… to be honest I learnt more in the first day then I did my entire high-school audio course...

TLDR:
YouTube is good for lil tips and tricks (JST)
URM Academy (Nail The Mix) is very good for just having a go, then watching the engineer mix the song live on stream and then you can learn that way.
See if you can intern for free at a studio or pay for a course (that's actually going to teach you something.)

(If you use reaper, download this and see how this was mixed: )
