CHILDREN OF BODOM (aka COB) are set to release their ninth studio album, I Worship Chaos, worldwide on October 2, 2015 via Nuclear Blast Records. The artwork was created by Finnish artist Tuomas Korpi (http://tuomaskorpi.com/) which is attached below.
COB frontman, guitarist, and mastermind Alexi Laiho commented on the new album: “We are close to putting the finishing touches on the new COB record I Worship Chaos and as much fun (but most importantly raw, literally bloody knuckled hard work) it has been making it, I’m more than happy and even more anxious to share this chaos with the rest of the world. So people, put your shades and helmets on, it will get very dark and it might hurt, in a perfect COB fashion of course!”
Returning to Finland’s Danger Johnny Studios (located at a top secret, undisclosed location in Helsinki) to record I Worship Chaos, the album was produced by COB and Mikko Karmila, who worked with the band on their earlier albums Halo Of Blood, Hatebreeder, Follow the Reaper and Hate Crew Deathroll. The album was mixed and mastered at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland.
COB is set to embark on a momentous worldwide trek in support of I Worship Chaos. Stay tuned for more details.

It's like the Halo artwork but blown up by war, forest fire or some cataclysmic event. The X in the tree could symbolize target for the disaster, or the lake Bodom murder place, or both. The full moon finally is in Bodom artwork, just not in the form I expected. It's like the Reaper indicating with the eclipse he worships darkness and pain instead of the sun. I like it a touch more when I tilt my screen up so the color changes to orange and black, or when I tilt it down and it becomes full blown bright. There was an eclipse here a couple months ago, maybe they got the idea then.

Well, it's nice, it's same quality as HCDR. Not perfect, but alright, and nice idea, I like the energy and the contrast: it's bright, but it's supposed to get dark and to "hurt". Will be interesting to hear how dark and painful it sounds, but it's interesting to have such ambitious art from Bodom, it gets noticed. Someone in Turkey might think this has something to do with politics... so if they wanted it more red they should take the X out...

Song titles... not bad, not epic, I'll let the music decide. Morrigan is a goddess of war and sexual power, who appears in the form of raven sometimes, and resembles the Skandinavian valkyrie.

Yeah the contrast with the super wet and cold Halo of Blood artwork is cool

edit: image should be better now

Their best artwork by far, old schoolish song names apart from the silly iHurt. Hype, boys and gurls!
And the fucking Bananarama cover would've never been more out of place than on this record

damn this at the very least top 3 bodom artwork. not huge on the font of the album title but whatever. getting very keen to hear something now. "ihurt" sounds absolutely absurd. what a terrible title for a song.

iHurt must have some kind of low-bit keyboard sound.
My Bodom... it's like the Reaper surviving alone on the lake, or Alexi's ego trip.
Morrigan, could it be the slow song?
Horns must include some headbanging riff.
Prayer for the Afflicted, maybe this one's the slow song. I hope it doesn't mean the shirt company Afflicted. It's like Only For the Weak.
I Worship Chaos, well you have to if you're a touring metal band, but I worship other things, still cool title.
Hold Your Tongue, I hope this one has some whispering vocals. It's something I think could serve them very nicely if they wanted to make dark songs.
Suicide Bomber, probably some nice melody and heavy action.
All for Nothing, another of them worthless song titles.
Widdershins, probably the leftover shit again, 'swimming against the current'.

New colour, yellow wow! Nice, but a little bit sharp artwork I think (not as smooth as HOB). First I couldn't put Morrigan anywhere, but you made it clear. By the way I'm not the fan of "one-word track titles" they feel a little bit cheap to me, hope the songs will be good though. (Of course there were some good one-word tracks in the rock/metal history)

If the artwork turned out purple, it would be pretty similar to this... one of my favourite bands' songs with quite similar song title. It's got quite cool chorus, 2:37. Some of the whispering I suggested should be included in Bodom's music to create darkness, suspense and dynamic depth.

It's interesting to see how yellow and dark go together...? It's like the sun burning vampires kind of dark...?

I think they might use some computer wizardry at the iHurt track.

I did a speed round of the track list, with deep as shit Joonas-style analysis:
01. iPhone
02. My Boredom (forever alone)
03. Capt. Morgan
04. Horny
05. Paid and affiliated
06. I Worship Satan
07. Hold my beer
08. Bomberman
09. HCDR
10. Whiskers???

Maaaan, I'm really looking forward to this album. If the album is as good as the cover, I'm gonna die of the amount of awesomeness.
But somehow the font of the Album name and some song titles totally sound like they were stolen from slayer. :/
Mainly the following 4 song titles:
05. Prayer For The Afflicted
06. I Worship Chaos
08. Suicide Bomber
10. Widdershins

Damn, this gets me excited.

Cover artwork looks amazing, like some nuke went off in the distance.

Not to fond of iHurt but the rest of the song titels sound, at least, promising.

Still 4 months to go, would like a teaser soon (Single end of August/early September maybe?)

Great cover. Really like the art style and colors. Not as good as the first albums though.

The album title is silly just like every other album. Not as good as Hatebreeder, not as bad as BD, RRF or AYDY.

As for the song titles, again in typical Bodom style most of them are weird (Morrigan, Widdershins (which apparently means anti-clockwise or similar)) or bad (iHurt, really?). But there are also the likes of Prayer For The Afflicted and All For Nothing, which are pretty good sounding.
I like the Bodom track title, although I've never been a big fan of titles with paranthesis.

Overall this is a promising start of the album, and hopefully they can continue the trend where every album since Blooddrunk (their lowest point for me) is better than the one before it.

4 months is too long at this point. The band is already touring, they have a new album ready, but can't play new songs for 4 fucking months. Ridiculous. Who knows, maybe we'll get one song in the summer. What worries me is their artwork color has always matched the sound, and I can't see yellow being dark, but very thrashy, plus the song titles... I could come up with better ones any minute. It'll be interesting to hear is Alexi still has that creativity in making songs. All in due time. Now the worst pain is over since we at least have the artwork etc.

A Finnish magazine listened to a few songs, and naturally say it seems good, the sounds are fucking good, and some Follow the Reaper'ish melody moments. Alexi says the most notable new thing is he focused on the vocals more than earlier.

Well, anything with keyboards is directly associated with Follow the Reaper, cos it sounds sexy and exciting in marketing terms. And Alexi really needed to up his game in the vocals, cos they've been terrible. What also affects his vocals is the choice of words, really. Never heard anything bad about a new album at this point, but would like to hear some surprising details, this doesn't say much.

All that shit we heard about RRF, too, so... I'll wait.

Man, stop talking this bullshit. Maybe it's about the contract with nuclear blast. I'm really sure that NB is going to do a long thing of marketing the album with teasers, interviews and this kind of stuff. They did it with all of their bands the past months.

Yep, first it's a tiring wait, then it's a long endurance of marketing, saying the same thing to every magazine out there, whoring up the album and then releasing 50% of it's musical material before it's released. Would be happy if I could just shut my eyes and wait till it's in stores, but at the end only thing that matters is if it's good.
