i wounder....

You have to sell a lot and tour a lot to make a living out of death metal. Cannibal is one of the few bands on Metalblade that does make a living of touring and selling cd's (for a death metal band). Even bands like Morbid Angel still has side jobs. Sometimes, I ll see Sandoval deliver pizza hut here in Tampa.

haha... that be fucked up to have Allen West or somethin bring you your pizza...

i figure they probably dont though... i was just thinking since vs.the world seems to be a big success for them and all maybe there coming close to livin off of there music...

I remember hearing Immortal just reached that point after Sons of Northern Darkness came out last year, and they've been pretty big for about 10 years now. It's a shame it takes so much for metal bands to live off their music; for how much it enhances our lives they really deserve to be making more money off it.

I am afraid to tell you that it is the truth. Unless he changed job, last I knew he was delivering pizza for Pizza Hut. He is so godly that he even has his own brand of drumstick with Morbid Angel on it and signed by Sandoval.

Making living off of death metal, whoever gave you that idea? There is no money in it and nobody should be doing it for the money as they'll just run themselves to the ground. Treat it as a hobby and you'll be ok. I'm sure there are some extreme bands that can "survive" off of their music but surviving and living are two different things.

It seems there are very few people who are actually able to live off metal. It seems that the ones who do, normally have other involvement besides being musicians (think Devin Townsend, who is also a producer and runs a label). But it's certainly not an illustrious career choice :)

also aa has been touring alot lately and it doesnt even seem like they have time to work....
also ive noticed a tremendous increase in aa fans... normaly at shows if i see one aa shirt its a big deal but at immolation/grave the other day i must have seen atleast 10...
i realy doubt it but it just seems like its possible they are...
