Ibanez Prestige RG-1550N?!

Was browsing online for some guitars and stumbled across this thing which I find extremely sexy.

But apparently they aren't made any more.

Found a used one on eBay, but it's in Japan and...really not looking to buy a used guitar.

Anyone have any info on these things and if it's possible to get one new?

It's actually 1550M and M stands for maple fretboard.

Have not played one, but both my Prestige RGA121 and Japanese RG570 are built great. Not everyone digs basswood, but I think it's alright.

I've heard nothing but good about the Prestige models and my old S-Series held up very well for how badly I abused it.

I'm not even a fan of pick-guards but that blue with the black guard and maple fretboard gives me a stiffy.

Yeah, Prestiges are built great.

If you're OK with the trem and the basswood body, it should be a great guitar.

Keep in mind this is probably better basswood and less pieces than an average cheapo guitar, but it's probably still going to have the basswood sound (smooth and mid-focused).

It's a remake of the original RG550. You can snag them for pretty cheap on eBay
Usually around 600 which is a great price for what you get. The maple board will brighten up the tone a bit, making it a great combo with the basswood for lead tones.
