Just a Kid at Heart
Iced Earth's MySpace page just posted the announcement of a co-headlining tour of Europe with Saxon.

Saxon? I didn't know they were still around. But, apparently, they are -- and Jon is hot to trot to tour with them.

From IE's MySpace announcement:

For Iced Earth, this will be the first full European tour since the return of frontman, Matt Barlow. I am pleased Matt is back, explains guitarist and songwriter Jon Schaffer. We are brothers with a long, meaningful relationship behind us. The band will present songs from their current album, The Crucible Of Man, and for spring Schaffer has also announced the release of a new DVD.

Who's writing that stuff?

Anyway, here are the tour dates, in case anyone plans a trip to Europe to see these aged headbangers do their thing:

Yeah .. Saxon is still pretty big in Europe. They've stayed active thru the years, and put a new disc out every couple of years. They were one of the most popular acts on the bill when I went over to Wacken in 07'. I think they closed out one of the nights. I was occupied during their set, but Zod & Wife said they put on a killer live show.

I saw the Saxon/Masterplan stop in Stuttgart in March 07. Saxon filled the place (LKA Longhorn...about the size of the Roxy in Atl), played a long set old and new, and everyone I saw left happy. I wish there was a devout enough following for them to visit the southeast US. I don't see myself back in Germany for at least a couple of years.
