Iced Earth

I'm going...got my ticket 1 minute and 20 seconds after they went on sale :) hehehe!!!
I'm getting the plane down in the morning. I can't wait.
I havn't got the new album but i've heard the EP! New album should be coming through the post in the next couple of days :)
I think the songs are great and Tim done a good job on the vocals!
I do feel that the lyrical side of it has dropped down a step or two though. Not quite up to the standards of Jon's previous geniuses! Overall still great album i'm sure!!!!!!!!!!!!
Primal fear also at Bloodstock so should be cool seeing them twice :)
I hope Iced Earth play a lot of the older stuff from Night of the Stormrider though because that is one of the best metal albums of all time. It's pretty guarenteed they will play Dante's Inferno but i'll keep my fingers crossed just in case :p
Me and a mate are coming down so anyone is very free to by me some drinks....haha ok i'm kidding! I am the one normally buying everyone else drinks :p !!!!!
Wooo can't fucking wait!

The Iced Earth show has been upgraded to the Astoria... a little dissapointed at not seeing them in a smaller venue but that's a bit selfish i guess...:p Good news for Jon and the boys ...another *real* Metal band plays the Astoria..... superb :D

It's bad news for those with tickets or those who had planned to go.

The tour will take place but not sure when.

I personally couldn't make the date as it stood so maybe it will go ahead on a date when I can get there.

Sorry if that sounds selfish guys!! :p

It's a shame and I do feel for those that have bought their tickets (There's some dude on the bloodstock forum who's even bought flights). However this cancellation doesn't suprise me in the least. Last time Iced Earth played over here I think the gig got cancelled at least twice before hand. Also they let their fans down again at Wacken last year.

I just got my call from Ticket web confirming the change of venue today too... :yell: This is really bad news.... Jon has an ongoing problem with his Neck (which i thought he'd sorted) and that obviously links to his back.... damn !!! :bah: I hope they don't reschedule for June eh... Steve ?

That makes it worse for the Primal Fear show that got cancelled at Wolverhampton .... groan....

Eagle i did see Jon play wacken last time they played and he was in a neck brace so lets just say that his stage movement was restricted... hopefully he'll get himself sorted... this was/is a big tour for them so i guess he'll be gutted

im gutted i was really looking forward to this and it had made up for primal fear pulling out of the wolvo show but now it looks like i will be gettin a refund and missing out on some quality bands heres jons offical statement:

Hello All,

As some of you may have heard I recently had lower back surgery. It seemed early on that things were going well with my recovery, however in recent weeks a new problem has developed. I will be undergoing some intense testing in the next week to 10 days to see what the next steps will be. Which leads to the bad news, due to the serious complications with my back, we're going to have to postpone the European leg of the tour and possibly even the first 2 weeks or so of the US Tour. It really depends on what the Doctor says after all testing is done and the options are on the table. If another surgery is necessary it may push the tour back even more. Obviously this is the absolute last thing that we ever want to do, but my health has to come first, and the potential of causing permanent damage is very real.
Those of you that have been following the band for a long time know that it's always top priority to give you the best show possible. At the current and very intense level of pain that I'm in, there's no way that I'd be able to do my part and give 100%, and you don't deserve anything less.

The guys in the band are as disappointed as I am but they are understanding and supportive at the same time.

"The Glorious Burden" is by far the album that has received the best reviews in the bands history, charted the best around the world, sold more than double in the early stages compared with "Horror Show" in all major territories, and continues to grow full steam ahead. It is the album that I knew it would be and I hate that we have to change our plans due to my back problems. However, in the big picture, it's the only decision that I can make.

I hope you all can understand the seriousness of the situation. Please know that as much as this sucks, it's the best thing for me, the band, and for you.

The tour WILL happen, and when it does, I guarantee you will see the best Iced Earth show you ever have! I feel 10 years younger and am having fun again, it totally sucks that my back is causing these problems!

I thank you in advance for your support through this tough time and will keep you posted as to my progress..................

Take care,

Jon Schaffer
