Now someone could have written that same exact thing for Nightwish or Rhapsody -- which isn't a bad thing, I'm just sayin' that's all....

You know it, I know it, we all know it, but everyone's being a dirty liar because it's untrue or whatever. But let's be serious here for a second....

Seriously, my point is, if you take symphonic music in the manner that you've described and put *clean* vocals over it (same lyrics), how would it still be categorized in the same genre as NM? It wouldn't, thereby PROVING that vocals dictate 99% of a genre.

You can't say the same exact thing, because those bands DO have orchestral aesthetics around pop-structures, and ARE pretentious.

And false, I'd categorise them exactly the same, ffs one of the songs on that album DOES HAVE clean vocals and it's still the same genre.
