i generally don't. you have no idea how expensive this shit is in sweden, and so many cocktails are overtly sweet. never liked getting drunk off sweet stuff.

but i have recently realized how frickin tasty RUSTY NAILs are, i.e. 50/50 scotch and drambuie over ice. i could drink this shit ALL DAY LONG, and since it's made only from hard liquor it's pretty manly, too. so tell me about your staple drinks, folks

Not to mention it's called RUSTY NAILS!! :kickass: That actually sounds tasty. I gotta remember that. But I hardly ever have a cocktail/mixed drink. I dont even remember the last time I had one. It was probably a couple years ago when I had an espresso martini, amongst a few other various martini concoctions. Dangerous.

I either drink beer, whisk(e)y neat, or some Shiraz.

home - ginger ale w/ vodka or whiskey w/ cola, beer or wine

out - bourbon or whiskey neat, beer

on a side note, the last few weeks been drinking so many mixed drinks with family and friends that the other day after I poured myself just a glass of ginger ale, I instinctevly started mixing it with a spoon :(

Lately - it's whiskey + Coca Cola or Cherry juice, and Absente+ apple juice (well, its mainly for chicks). Or just good wine!

You're drinking now?

Whiskey Cocktail

Recipe: pint glass, whiskey and slapping the shit out of anyone nearby who asks for a cocktail.

i NEVER understood why people choose to mix whiskey, or vodka, or anything else with coke. shit is foul. i could MAYBE make an allowance for rum and coke but that shit is also rather foul in the grand scheme of things

I'm too delicate and feminine to drink it clean!

I hardly EVER order mixed drinks, but there are a couple I've really liked lately.

At Valentine's Day dinner my girlfriend ordered this drink called a Ward 8:

2 ounces bourbon whiskey (Knob Creek in this case)
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/2 ounce fresh orange juice
1 teaspoon grenadine
(or something, I just looked this up online but it said rye and hers was bourbon for sure. the bourbon taste was dominant and it really kicked ass. i stole the drink from her and gave her the girly cocktail I ordered)

Other one was one a friend of mine ordered at the bar and made me try, a Pornstar:
1/2 oz Sour Puss® raspberry liqueur
1/2 oz Blue Curacao liqueur
4 - 6 oz 7-Up® soda

Myself, I usually drink beer or whiskey (neat), but very rarely I'll order a Jack & Coke.

Cheap blended whiskeys most often taste better mixed.

This.

Also lets not confuse shitty mixed drinks at a disco with killer stuff that pro barmen can make.
Some of those are amazing and brutal alcohol content wise.

There is this small speakeasy next to my office that is such a place. People come from all over NYC to try the drinks. They come up with new mixes weekly

The atmosphere in the place is also very 1920's. I can imagine Portal hanging out there ...

To me drinks is what you drank at the hotel on the sportlov when you where a kid and which were tasty and fruity and cool colours but didn't have any alcohol in them. I don't think I have ever ordered a drink?

I find mixed drinks to be more efficient at concerts, where rapidity of buzzness is of paramount import. Cape Cods, Rum & Cokes, and Monster Vodka's usually do the trick. Over a year ago, Ginger Ale/Vodka was all the rave, but I've since become a straight edge priss, only indulging in the occasional at dinner brew.

well then why would you offend your delicate senses by drinking something that tastes awful

there are legitimate mixers but coke is just not one of them. i'm convinced the only reason people use it is it's plentiful and easy to come by/no effort involved
